2nd Place 2003 Class 4 Championship Name: Neil Martel Hometown: Ottawa Race Vehicle:2wd Ford Ranger Special Notes: The competition was a little lacking this year in Class 7, so Neil decided to step up to Class 4! It was a true pleasure watching the nimble 4 cylinder truck beating the fire breathing V8's. CLASS 10
2nd Place 2003 Class 10 Championship Name:Bob Joseph Hometown: Stoney Creek Age: Almost as old as Paul Spouse: Kathy Race Vehicle: Single Seat Buggy Tires/Wheels: BF Goodrich tires (cut for racing) on aluminum wheels Special Notes: Bob is el presidente' of the Ontario Off Road Racing Association 2003 DRIVER OF THE YEAR AS VOTED BY OTHER RACERS 2003 OVERALL POINTS CHAMPION 2003 CLASS 10 POINTS CHAMPION Name: Paul Robertson Hometown: Guelph Age: Raced a horse and buggy when he was younger because there was no cars! Race Vehicle: Single Seat Buggy Tires/Wheels: BF Goodrich Mud Terrain (cut for racing) on aluminum wheels Special Notes: Paul was voted the 2003 Driver of the year by the other drivers, along with winning the Class 10 Championship and overall points championship! Congrats Paul! He has been racing with OORA for pretty close to 25 or 30 years now!
3rd Place 2003 Class 10 Championship Name: Ken Sherret Hometown:St. Thomas Vehicle: Taylor Single Seat Buggy Engine: 1600cc Datsun built by Answer Engine Works in London and is the only Datsun engine being run in the OORA. Transmission:VW 091 out of a 1978 VW Van Front Suspension:12" wider beam with custom trailing arms that are 1" wider and 2 1/2" longer and 8" Fox adjustable gas shocks. Rear Suspension:custom 5 link setup with a pair of 14" Fox air shocks on each side and VW Thing CV's and Wildwood disc brakes. Tires/Wheels: BF Goodrich tires on aluminum wheels Special Notes: This is Ken's first year back after a looong absence from the sport. While he had a few new car bugs this year, he is ready for next year!
